I think its safe to say the phrase “now who will marry you?” is one that we’ve heard before or even a lot.Our parents, well meaning aunties, neighbors and sometimes even our friends, say it to us. What calls for such a question? It may be that one time you slipped and put a little too much sugar in the tea. Or maybe the time you thought letting your hair out for that one event seemed cool. And of course there’s the time you made really icky soup that you toiled and followed the recipe to perfect. The worst; succumbing to shaytan’s whispers and doing the unspeakable. These are just a few scenarios where such a phrase can be said to a girl.
What I would love for our dear elders to realize is that correcting a girl by implying that no one will marry her because she did so and so only makes matters worse. What about reminding her that her Lord is watching her? And that whenever she asks for His forgiveness, He will surely grant it to her? It’s not all about worrying about who will marry her as if to say whoever marries her in her current state (whatever it may be) is her ultimate savior.
What makes things worse is when we start to ask ourselves that question, “Now who will marry me after I’ve done such and such?”If you truly want to change your life, turning back Allah (swt) is the best way to go about it. Also, put it at the back of your mind that nothing but the best comes out of obedience to Allah. So sisters please, let’s raise our children with these thoughts “Allah is the most merciful”. Whoever we think will save our children by marrying them is human after all. Allah alone is our savior.
